Green Apple award Winners 2017

Gold Awarded in the category Best Environmental Practice for Commerce and Industry.

Servest Arthur McKay are celebrating the success of a collaborative energy award achieved for the cooling project recently completed for a large banking headquarters in Halifax, UK. The Green Apple Awards ceremony was held at the Houses of Parliament on Monday, 6th November 2017. Servest Arthur McKay were awarded the Gold Award, for Best Environmental Practice for Commerce and Industry.

Servest Arthur McKay along with strategic partners Smart Controls Group replaced 20-year-old cooling plant and associated cooling towers with class leading chillers and sealed evaporative cooling towers.

Apple Awards judging panel noted the project has allowed the facility to retain 3 MW of critical cooling capacity while reductions in energy consumption will amount to more than 33% while the equipment is at full load. Energy reductions will be compounded as the new plant retains efficiency while running at low and partial loads due to variable speed drives, the plant upgrade will lead to large cost savings and a large reduction of CO2 emissions.

Smart Controls and Servest Arthur McKay delivered the project on time and within budget while keeping the facility fully operational.

Servest Arthur McKay Project Manager Martin Towler stated. “This was a very technically challenging project that required replacement of all cooling plant including all new condenser water pipework and heat rejection plant. We worked with Smart Controls to assist with design and implementation due to their technical experience with the various legacy BMS systems on site and the close links forged with major manufacturers.”

Servest Arthur McKay Operational Director Mike Stark and Regional Project Manager collected the award at the ceremony addressed by Liz Kendall MP.

Servest Arthur McKay are multi award winning Mechanical & Electrical Contractors having recently won the accolade of electrical contractor of the year.
